Raw Therapee for Mac
I am trying a new pre-process bit "RawTherapee" and I would like some feedback from the users. The image above is without RawTherapee (Got to do something about that name!) adjustments, and the image below is with some adjustments. The Screenshot gives a summary of what I did to the image prior to bringing it into Aperture where I did a Red Filter BW Preset to arrive where we stand now.
Image with RawTherapee Adjustments per above screen shot.
Just quickly before I go too much further which image would you rather look at? I feel that the adjustments done to the NEF file have made for a crispier black and white feel in the second image. The first image has a "Dreamlike" feel to it that reminds me of a hot summer day image, rather than a day after a foot of snow image which is the actual condition for the days shoot.
One thing that I have noticed after making RAW adjustments to several files is that my favorite HDR editor, Photomatix Pro will no longer open the images and provides me with a message that says that the images selected are of different sizes. What is odd to me is that all three images that I was attempting to load into Photomatix where adjusted using Therapees batch mode processing, they should all remain dimensionally the same? In further research I see that the files grow from 16mb to about 92mb after the RAW treatment. My Aperture version of the Photomatix plugin has a hard time handling files that large.
