Circles was the given word
A while ago I joined a Photo club and each week they gave a word to which each member had to take a photograph that represents the word. "Circles" was given, and on a walk with my dog to the usual place we found that the whole field had been cut and baled. I spent a couple of hours shooting the bales from all different angles, from landscape views of many bales to close-ups. This is the one that I thought was the best and changed it to B&W in the first edit as I thought it gave more power to the photograph. Ever since finishing the edit I have been wondering if the noise in the sky was to much, or does it make it more gritty, juxtaposed to the softness of the bales. Because I have given it lots of thought maybe it is to much but have decided to keep it as is.
When does grain/noise in a photograph work and when doesn't it? Would love to hear anybody's thoughts and of course any comments on this photograph would be gratefully appreciated.
