This image of the Dead Tree can be used to try and illustrate my point on the discussion regard "Colour Blindness" on this site. [link]
I decided to head out to a local spot and only travel light. No tripod, filters and only the kit lens on my Nikon D90. I did have a polarising filter screwed on to the lens though. The thing that inspired me to take the shot was the grain or texture within the trunk of the dead tree. It was like seeing all the lines and wrinkles in an old persons face, the tree seemed to have a story to tell. I knew straight away that it was a black & white photo. However the beautiful blue sky would distract the eye from this wonderful form and the grain of the tree. I knew immediately what I would do when I got back home to make this photo "pop".
I processed in Aperture and took it over to Silver EFEX pro 2 and if I recall correctly used an orange filter with an included preset.
